REAL WEDDINGS, EDUCATION, AND INSPIRATION

Welcome to my blog—my journal about my recent work, faith, wedding planning tips, and education for photographers. Grab a cup of coffee and stay awhile!

WELCOME, I'M Alison!

These two braved the Texas heat and many bug bites during their Flippen Park & White Rock Lake engagement photos, and they looked amazing doing it!! Even though I’m making a mental note to start packing bug spray with me for every engagement session in the summer, Kayle and Clint were absolute naturals in front […]

This shoot happened so fast! Alyssa and Aaron got engaged just a few weeks ago, and they decided to plan an intimate wedding for this summer before Aaron left for training! In less than a week of emailing back and forth, we got their Minnesota wedding booked and their engagement session scheduled! We met up […]

All this time at home due to everything that’s going on in our world right now has given me lots of time to edit & blog my recent photo sessions, and I couldn’t wait to share this one with the world!! I’d met up with Amanda & Bobby before at an open house for their venue and they were just so sweet! I couldn’t wait to see them again for their engagement session!!

I can’t even begin to tell you how many newly-engaged girls have reached out to me for their wedding photography and shared that they’re feeling super overwhelmed by the planning process. Maybe they don’t have the time to figure everything out on their own, or maybe they don’t even know where to begin!

I feel like Dallas has been extra cloudy & rainy lately, so I was a little nervous that we’d have to reschedule Bryttin & Bryan’s engagement session! But nope!! Instead we got the most perfect weather imaginable! Sunny & warm with a slight breeze just can’t be beat!! And I was so happy we got such a beautiful day because Bryttin and I have been emailing back and forth for months trying to find a day that worked for their engagement session, and we finally made it happen!

These two are just the CUTEST!! They were both so bubbly and fun during their engagement shoot, despite the fact that it was freezing cold and super windy! We’d already had to reschedule their shoot from a week earlier due to rain, and I was so nervous when I saw it was still supposed to be cloudy + potentially rainy for their second date! But Amanda and Andre were total troopers and didn’t let the weather get in the way!

I’ve said it so many times and I’ll say it again—I LOVE MY JOB! I got to spend the afternoon shooting engagement photos at one of my favorite venues for the SWEETEST couple! Getting to spend time with my couples before the wedding day is something I truly treasure, and when we get to make some GORGEOUS images during our time together, it’s even better! Amanda and Ryan met through work and totally hit it off! When Amanda was inside changing into her next outfit, Ryan was telling me about how he proposed to her. He gave her three different options for places they could go on vacation, and he had a plan for how he’d propose to her for each option! No matter where she chose, it was going to be amazing! Amanda chose to visit Savannah, and Ryan proposed during the trip (and Amanda was totally surprised!!). Aside from the amazing venue and even more amazing couple, these two totally came prepared with their outfits and props!! They look so classic and elegant, and even brought a bottle of champagne to pop! And just you wait until you see one of the other outfits Amanda brought… it is STUNNING!!! These two look like they’re straight out of a Ralph Lauren ad!

To me, there is no better compliment than when a member of a wedding party chooses to hire me for their own wedding! I first met Ann Marie when she was the maid-of-honor at Bri & Preston’s wedding in November, and I was so excited when she reached out to me a couple weeks later about shooting her wedding in August!

Even though I’d already met and talked on the phone with Ann Marie before, I loved getting the chance to spend time with her and Cade during their engagement session! While engagement sessions are always so much fun (and a great opportunity to get some beautiful images & get used to being in front of my camera), I truly treasure this time to get to know my couples!

We were looking at the forecast and I was so bummed when I saw that it was going to be cold and raining on the day we had originally planned Caylee & Kaleb’s engagement shoot. But fortunately, we were able to find a date to reschedule their session before I took off for my wedding […]
